The Qumra Film Festival, in its ninth session this year, will be held again, starting from the tenth of next March for a period of six days, after it was held virtually through artificial intelligence techniques during the past three years, due to the repercussions and effects of the Corona pandemic.
The festival, which is organized annually by the Doha Film Institute, aims to provide guidance, guidance, support and practical development for filmmakers in Qatar and the rest of the world.
Five of the most prominent international filmmakers are participating in this year’s session, sharing their experiences through a series of film seminars, while Qumra Shows includes eight distinguished feature films from inside and outside the Arab region.
The Qumra program is divided into five main sections, namely: “Qumra Film Seminars”, which are daily sessions presented by a cinema expert daily, “Qumra Shows for Short and Long Films”, which are cinematic works funded by the Doha Film Institute through grant and co-financing programmes. The training will be followed by discussion sessions, and “Qumra meetings”, which is a series of individual meetings, panel discussions, committees to express opinions, workshops and meetings tailored to the needs of filmmakers and attended by representatives of selected projects and a group of the most prominent industry experts, and “Qumra Series”, where seven teams will present their series projects that I reached the development stage in front of a group of international industry experts and serial mold experts through individual and group consulting sessions. Qumra Short Films is an intensive workshop in which ten filmmakers in Qatar present their short film projects in development or post-production to a group of international short film experts.
The forum seeks to provide creative and professional support to directors and producers with a total of 25 feature-length projects, 7 series and 10 short films that have reached the stage of development or post-production in the categories of fiction and documentaries. The list of participants in this year’s Qumra includes a number of promising filmmakers from Qatar, as well as regional and international filmmakers who have received support from the financing programs offered by the Doha Film Institute, from several Gulf, Arab and international countries.

The festival will witness the presence of a group of the most prominent Gulf, Arab and international cinema stars, whose names will be announced with the program of events accompanying the festival at the end of February.
