GenPI.co East Java – Smoking is one of the risk factors that trigger hypertension which has the potential to increase the risk of other dangerous diseases.
Some of the dangerous diseases caused by hypertension are heart disease, cancer, stroke, and disorders of vital organs.
Now, to reduce that risk, adult smokers must be given accurate information about various solutions to stop them in order to reduce the risk of hypertension.

“When we talk about hypertension, we are not talking about how much blood pressure is and relying on examinations, but variations. Don’t think because hypertension is a repeated test to find out how high the blood pressure is,” said a neurologist, Yuda Turana, Monday (27/12) yesterday.
Head of the Department of Public Health, Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad), Ardini Raksanagara added, in order to avoid hypertension, people must adopt a healthy lifestyle.

“If you want to avoid hypertension, you must avoid smoking, start eating healthy foods, and exercising. Physical activity is at least 30 minutes a day,” he said in the discussion.
Agreeing with Ardini, Chairman of the Indonesian Young Pharmacist Group (IYPG), Arde Toga Nugraha also advised adult smokers to start quitting.

“Here, the role of health workers is to convey that there are risks if it continues and how to overcome or prevent these risks. They must be given an understanding,” he said.
