Quito’s Urban Artists Transform City with ‘Graff Quito’ Project

Quito, December 13 (Quito Informa). – Eight urban artists promote the ‘Graff Quito’ project and leave their creative mark on the Casa Somos: Los Chillos, Calderón, La Delicia, Tumbaco, Eugenio Espejo, Eloy Alfaro and Manuela Sáenz. This initiative, led by the General Secretariat of Territorial Coordination and Citizen Participation, merges street art with youth involvement in municipal projects.

Bryan Caluguillin, Andres Trujillo, Isaac Ushiña, Edwin Guananga, Dennis Zurita, Matías Aguilar, Mauricio Cevallos and Nayomi Andrango plasma their art in these spaces, contribute their unique vision and contribute to the enrichment of the capital’s urban landscape.

The creative cycle culminated on December 12, 2023 at Casa Somos Conocoto (valley), where the artist Edwin Guananga completed an 8 x 4 meter artistic mural titled ‘Respect for Nature’. Which dazzles with its visual and chromatic expression, in addition to transmitting a valuable message of environmental awareness. The remaining murals will be completed in the coming days.

The objective of ‘Graff Quito’ is to stimulate and guarantee the active participation of youth in various municipal projects and promote citizen co-responsibility in territorial development. It also seeks to encourage the involvement of young people as subjects of rights in volunteering processes, achieve authentic participation in organizational processes and consolidate their social commitment to the city.

With this initiative, the municipality offers visible spaces for the development of murals, promoting a platform for young people to express their voices by appropriating public space in a creative and participatory way. The city becomes a canvas where creativity and youth merge to build an enriching future for all. Through the convergence of art, culture, citizen participation and unity, Quito Reborn.
