The Quirónsalud Huelva Hospital incorporates to the integral unit of Breast Pathology, the oncoplastic surgery for immediate reconstruction in the surgical treatment of breast cancer.
Surgical treatment for breast cancer is usually done in several phases. First, the disease is treated by removing the lesion, be it a radical mastectomy, quadrantectomy, etc. After surgery, a period of time – between 1 and 3 months – is expected for the breast to heal and a second intervention is programmed in which an expander is placed, whose function is to gradually dilate the skin, through small fillings until it allows the introduction of a breast prosthesis and repair surgery is performed, if necessary, in a third approach.
