ANNOUNCEMENTS

Prosecutors suspect former Ajax player Quincy Promes paid €250,000 to drug trafficker Piet Wortel. It would be a debt that arose after a shipment of 400 kilos of cocaine was allegedly stolen in July 2019. This became clear this morning at the pro forma hearing in the Piet Wortel case. He is on trial for large-scale cocaine importation and involvement in two liquidations. The investigation is still ongoing.

The stolen shipment of cocaine would have been the reason for two liquidations: ex-footballer Kelvin Maynard in Amsterdam and Genciël Feller in Curaçao.

Promes is suspected of stabbing a cousin in the leg with a knife during a family celebration in Abcoude in July 2020. The cousin was injured and filed a police report two months later. Justice is pursuing Promes for attempted murder or manslaughter. The case will be heard in court on March 3.

Promes currently plays in Russia for Spartak Moscow.
