Quincy Promes arrested for stabbing | Inland

Promes is suspected of assault resulting in serious physical injury, an offense that carries a maximum of four years in prison.

The arrest was confirmed on Sunday morning by police spokesman Jelmer Geerds. He says that a 28-year-old Amsterdammer has been arrested for the stabbing incident and does not want to say anything more about the background of the suspect.

Promes was detained immediately after the arrest and is in jail. In insurance means that he must stay in jail for a maximum of three days. The pre-trial detention can then be extended again.

Family celebration

At the end of July, the Ajax and Oranje attacker gave a large family party in a warehouse of his own company in Abcoude. During the party he got into a fierce argument with a family member for unknown reasons. He is said to have stabbed him with a knife and the victim was seriously injured. Bystanders immediately came between the victim and Promes and according to witnesses could have prevented worse. The man reported the stabbing a month ago.

It is unclear why Promes was not arrested earlier. The police denies that Ajax’s playing schedule has been taken into account. “We only heard about the incident a month ago. An investigation was then started and this morning led to an arrest, ”said Geerds.

Promes came from Sevilla FC to Ajax in 2019, which paid fifteen million euros for him. He previously played for Spartak Moscow, Go Ahead Eagles and FC Twente. Promes made his debut in the Dutch national team in 2014.
