The 39-year-old man, present in the box of Criminal Court of Quimper (Finistère), was not very talkative. Friday January 15, 2021, he was tried in immediate appearance for 15 offenses committed last December and during the first days of January to Quimperlé.
He was criticized in particular two curfew violations, established to curb the spread of the Covid-19.
On January 12, the defendant circulated in the historic center of Quimperlé. It is 10:10 p.m. when the gendarmes try to stop him. At the end of a chase, he manages to sow them but collides with two parked vehicles in stride. These facts took place, rue Saint-Yves. “One of the two vehicles retreated 2 m”, specifies Beatrice Dupuis, the president of the tribunal.
Heroin addiction
Four days earlier, on January 8, the man was also checked at 12.55 am. “I had gone to get Doliprane® from my partner’s mother. The latter and their one month old baby were also in the car.
The vehicle is not insured; the accused does not have a driving license. The man is a butcher by trade but has no job. He suffers above all from a heroin addiction and admits that he “occasionally” uses cocaine. He was also prosecuted for the use of narcotics on December 19.
In his requisitions, the public prosecutor Dominique tailhardat called him a “junkie” who “never quit drugs”. He underlines the 9 convictions in his criminal record and asks for one year in prison, with continued detention.
One year in prison
The defense lawyer, Me Anne Guillerme, first indicated that his client did not dispute the facts. She also conceded a consumption of narcotics “very anchored and never treated”. She finally insisted on “the dramatic situation” of the defendant and asked the court to give him another chance.
It was not the case. The man returned to detention. He was sentenced to 18 months in prison, including 6 months with a probationary suspension of 2 years. He will have the obligation to work, to take care of himself. The court also ordered him to pay 3 fines of 135 euros and one of 100 euros.
