Through the Emergency Alert System (SAE), Senapred ordered the preventive evacuation of the Chillancito, Villa Las Mercedes, Liucura Bajo and Manque Norte sectors in Quillón, due to the overflow of the Itata River.
After 3:00 p.m., Mayor Miguel Peña presided over the second meeting of the communal Disaster Risk Management Committee (Cogrid), due to meteorological causes. During the meeting, the highest community authority decreed a State of Community Emergency, which is added to the State of Catastrophe issued by the Government, between the regions of Valparaíso and Biobío.
The instance was attended by the Health, Ximena Salinas, Culture, Scarlett Hidalgo, and Justice, Elizabeth Riquelme; in addition to the head of the Development and Industry Division of the Regional Government, Osvaldo Alcayaga, municipal officials, Firefighters and Carabineros.
During the meeting, a balance was made of the situation that the commune presents, a product of the frontal system that has hit the Ñuble Region.
The work of the various agents involved has been concentrated in the areas where the Itata River has been recorded, which has forced the evacuation of 19 people, in the sectors of Quitrico, Manque Norte, Las Palmas and Chillancito.
The Amanda Chávez Navarrete school has been set up as a shelter, with a capacity of 50 beds. Dideco professionals are already in place to receive victims.
Firefighters reported that their troops are deployed throughout the commune, working by sectors corresponding to each company.
Carabineros reported that it will use all the powers granted by law to carry out evacuations, given the difficulty in leaving those affected.
For their part, Municipal Machinery personnel have used their resources to intervene in different sectors of the Itata river bed, located in Chillancito, Las Mercedes and La Balsa de Liucura.
Professionals from Cesfam Dr. Alberto Gyhra Soto, meanwhile, will coordinate care for housed patients, prioritizing electrodependent and bedridden patients.
Finally, the Daem reported that it will make its vehicles and drivers available for the transfer of evacuees.
