Quiet New Year’s Eve in Darmstadt and southern Hesse

SOUTH HESSE – As the police in southern Hesse announced in a press release, the turn of the year was comparatively calm. In the districts of Darmstadt-Dieburg, Bergstrasse and in the Odenwaldkreis, in which there is a night curfew, according to evaluations, emergency services have found around 125 violations of these restrictions, according to the police. In addition, there are around 18 violations of the ban on burning fireworks in high-public places or in public spaces and around 24 violations of the ban on alcohol consumption in public spaces in southern Hesse. Illegal fireworks were not seized, police said.

It was quiet in Darmstadt too

The fire brigade in Darmstadt also reports on a quiet New Year’s Eve. According to a press release, there were two operations during the night, one of which was a false alarm from a fire alarm system and the other was a door opening. The rescue service, however, was called to 24 emergencies, according to the fire brigade. But there were no serious injuries.
