Shortly after testing the Ryzen 5 5600G, I remembered that I had an unused AMD Ryzen 5 2400G in the drawer and it would fit into the performance comparison, as it is the oldest APU for the AM4 socket and also offers the iGPU Radeon RX Vega 11, so it has a total of 11 CU with 704 shaders. I was wondering how this older Ryzen 5 2400G with Vega 11 will perform compared to the new Ryzen 5 5600G in the games I’m testing on iGPU. You can find the processor performance in the graphs directly in the review, as I have tested it in the past.

AMD Ryzen 5 2400G is made by an older 14nm GloFo process, the CPU part offers four physical cores and SMT, the maximum single-core boost reaches 3.9GHz and the multi-core boost up to 3.7GHz. The L3 cache has a full four Megabytes, which is not much. This APU has a TDP of only 65 Watts and strictly adheres to this value.
The integrated Vega 11 is ticking at 1250 MHz and the power can be easily added by overclocking the graphics core, which can be non-trivial even in terms of heat production, this APU does not have a soldered IHS.
I installed the Ryzen 5 2400G in a period motherboard ASRock AB350M Pro4 with BIOS 5.90. The cooler was a boxed AMD Wraith Spire with RGB LED, which was originally cooled on the board by an AMD Ryzen 7 1700 processor. This higher boxer also has a copper core and screws into the backplate, which is fun.
I used the memories with the same and with the same XMP profile as with the Ryzen 5 5600G, ie two 8GB DDR4-3200 CL16 G.Skill TridentZ modules with RGB LEDs. I also used the same SSD, Samsung SSD 970 PRO 512GB.
I allocated 2GB of VRAM to the integrated Radeon RX Vega 11 in the BIOS.
