PAPENDRECHT – Young JGZ will vaccinate children and young people against HPV in the South Holland South region in the near future.
Today a jab could be obtained in Sports Center Papendrecht on the Lange Tiendweg. The photo shows that this was certainly heeded, because there was a huge queue. You can’t even see half of the row in the photo.
More than 1,100 women and nearly 400 men develop cancer each year as a result of HPV infection. According to the RIVM, vaccination can prevent 80 percent of these.
About the HPV shot
From 2022, all girls and boys will receive an invitation for HPV. This is a change in the National Immunization Programme. The human papillomavirus (HPV) can cause cervical cancer. But also other forms of cancer, such as cancer in the anus, penis, oral cavity, throat and esophagus. Boys also benefit from the HPV vaccination. The HPV vaccine works best when a child has not yet been infected with the virus. The age at which children receive an invitation is therefore from 13 to 10 years. There is a good chance that they are not yet infected.
