THE DRAMA: Bridge maintenance causes traffic jams between Sandvika and Drammen on the E18 on Saturday mornings.
The road is closed in the direction of Drammen. This leads to reduced accessibility both to and from Oslo, and those traveling to Sandvika have to take an extra detour.
– We apologize that this is causing delays for road users, but we are carrying out much needed work to strengthen a concrete joint on the Bjørnsvik Bridge. Unfortunately, works on the E18 will always have consequences for road users and we try to avoid times when many people commute to work or when weekend output is at its peak, says bridge engineer Damir Samardzic from the Administration Norwegian of public roads .
Work started late on Friday evening, but it was only on Saturday morning, when many were traveling to Bærum and Oslo for Christmas shopping, that traffic problems arose.
The work will continue until Sunday morning.
At 15.00 the police write on Twitter that there are long queues.
