Questions are being raised about the fate of Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGS) Brigadier General Ismail Kaani who disappeared on October 3, 2024. Kaani was also the commander of the Quds Force, a division primarily responsible for extraterritorial operations.
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei had appointed Qaani to succeed Qassem Soleimani as commander of the Quds Force.
On 31 May 2024, the European Union imposed personal sanctions against Qaani, citing his direct responsibility as commander of the Quds Force for providing Iranian weaponry to a wide network of Iranian-backed militias and other proxies operating throughout the Middle East, including Yemen’s Houthis
Where is Kaani?
In October 2024, speculation arose that he was either killed or injured.
There is however a rumor that he defected to Israel after his role in the total destruction of Hezbollah, although it was said as a cover that he was with Hashim Safieddin.

Did he commit suicide or was he killed?
What happened to him remains unknown however.
“An Iranian general who vowed to ‘see the dead bodies of Americans throughout the Middle East’ is missing after an Israeli attack in Lebanon that may have also killed the alleged new leader of Hezbollah, writes the New York Post” and completes:
“The fate of Brigadier General Esmail Kaani, head of Iran’s elite Quds Force, remains a mystery after Friday’s airstrike in Beirut, the New York Times reported. Some Arab and Israeli media reports say he is dead, while others say he is injured.”
And the question remains: Was he killed months ago? Did he immigrate to Israel? Did he stay in the shadows and get killed or injured days ago?
