Questioning the Persecution of Medical Personnel by Corona Patients’ Bodies in Ambon Page all

KOMPAS.com – Hundreds of residents stopped the ambulance carrying the body of HK (57) positive patient Covid-19 in the City Ambon on Friday (6/26/2020).

When the ambulance was passing on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman in Batu Merah Atas, Sirimau District, Ambon. The mob then forcibly took the corpse of HK.

HK is a resident of Central Maluku who was referred to Ambon Hospital after being confirmed positive by Covid-19. He is a 577 case patient.

HK died on Friday (6/26/2020) around 08.00 CET while undergoing treatment.

At that time, the family agreed that the funeral was done in accordance with the health protocol.

But that happened outside the initial agreement. Hundreds of people intercepted an ambulance that had been escorted by the police.

Even the masses had quarrels with the police. They believe that the patient died of an ordinary illness not because of Covid-19.

Without using PPE, the residents carried the body and buried the body of HK in the Warasia area, Sirimau District, Ambon.

Not only that. It turns out that prior to the incident of the forcible burglary, the HK family allegedly hit the medical team.

During the incident, JO, one of the medical personnel brought HK’s body from the isolation room to the mortuary. JO is preparing the body to be taken to the burial site.

At that time, JO was persecuted by HK family who came to the hospital on Friday morning.

The incident of mistreatment of medical personnel at Ambon Regional Hospital became viral on social media after a number of photos of medical personnel suspected of being victims of abuse were uploaded on social media Facebook.

Triggered by the news the patient was not treated well

AK, one of HK’s children, said that he intercepted and forcibly took the body of his father because he was not satisfied with the treatment at the Haulussy Hospital in Ambon.

He said during his treatment, the father was not treated humanely.

“My father was treated in the hospital very inhumanely. The handling was chaotic and that made the family not accept it, “AK told Kompas.com when confirmed, Saturday (6/27/2020).

The climax of family anger is when he hears the story of a patient who is treated next to HK.

The patient told me before he died, HK had complained of hunger and asked for food. But according to the patient, not one medical person came.

“There is one patient who told us at the hospital, that the night before you died, the deceased complained of hunger and asked for food, but was not given. That makes the family angry, “AK said.

In addition, AK considers his father’s body in poor condition and left alone.

“There were bloodstains on the mouth of the deceased and left them alone. That also made the family not accept, so they decided to take the body by force from the ambulance, “AK said.

Regarding the beating of medical personnel, AK admitted if it was done by his two younger sisters.

But he denied information that said the medical staff had been beaten by many people.

He said at that time there were five people who came to the hospital. Her two younger sisters were emotional when they heard that her father did not get good treatment. They also hit medical personnel.

“If it is true, indeed I cannot argue that the incident actually happened. But not done by the masses. At that time there were 5 of us coming, then my sister who was emotionally beaten indeed hit the nurse, “AK said.

“But not in the head, but in the hands. I personally intervened and asked my sister not to do that,” AK said.

Regarding the incident, AK claimed to have received a summons from the police and was ready to provide information.

Check three witnesses and tracing close contact

One of the three people examined was the wife of the late HK.

Whereas the Maluku Province Covid-19 Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling ensures that all family members involved in the funeral process for corona-positive patients without health protocols will betracing and rapid test.

Tracing is also done to those involved in the extraction of HK bodies.

“Yes, it will definitely be done,” said Daily Chair of the Maluku Province Co-19 Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling, Kasrul Selang.

He also admitted that he regretted that such incident could occur.

“This will also be a material for evaluating the task force why it happened like that and we hope it will not happen again,” he said.

In line with Kasrul, Ambon Island Police Chief and Lease Islands, Senior Commissioner Leo Surya Nugraha Simatupang also hopes the case will be the last in Maluku.
