“Questioning human creativity in the era of digital innovation” Digital artist Lee Bo-young attracts attention at the London Design Festival

Digital artist Lee Bo-young‘s work ‘0&1’ is visited by more than 400,000 visitors from around the world every year, famous designers and global brands regularly participate, and the 2024 London Design Festival Generative AI section highlights innovative works and emerging designers. The work received attention. Boyoung Lee, a graduate of the Royal College of Art, philosophically explored the nature of human creativity and the role of technology in the era of digital innovation through this exhibition.

‘0&1’ is London St. It was held in guerilla style for one day at Ethelburga’s Bedouin Tent. This work combines traditional architectural space and Generative AI technology to provide the audience with a transcendent experience where the past and the future coexist.

At the center of the work is the symbolic image of a ‘black horse’. This image created with Generative AI technology metaphorically expresses human disconnection and new possibilities for creativity due to technological advancement. The video of a black horse constantly running in a changing environment was projected on an 86-inch screen, conveying to the audience the theme of lack of communication and loneliness in the digital age.

Boyoung Lee said, “Technology is a powerful tool that can expand our experiences, but we need to reflect on what we are losing at the same time. ‘0&1’ is a work that explores this.”

This exhibition contains a philosophical message through the fusion of traditional buildings and technology, and was exclusively introduced on the global design media Dezeen, reaching more than 180,000 readers.

The production process of ‘0&1’ is also noteworthy. The exhibition space, St. Data from Ethelburga’s Bedouin Tent was collected and video content was created using Generative AI, demonstrating an example of digital technology breaking down physical boundaries in the creative process. Boyoung Lee completed the work through remote collaboration with collaborators from various countries, including Jakarta and Germany.

Meanwhile, after graduating with a master’s degree in service design from the Royal College of Art, Boyoung Lee founded the digital art creation group Deepsee Digital Creative and is working on Generative AI-based projects. Her work focuses on exploring the possibilities of digital technology while reflecting on the essence of human connection and creativity.

Through this exhibition, Boyoung Lee asked important questions about how human creativity and technology can coexist in the era of digital innovation.

**Given the collaborative nature of “0&1” and its themes of technological advancement, what potential ethical dilemmas⁣ does the ⁢project raise ⁤about⁤ authorship and ownership in a digitally interconnected world?**
