Hello Igor, hi dear community!
I plan to play music privately via Tidal (the highest available quality of the respective track) on the occasion of my wife and I’s crystal wedding.
For this I would use a Windows 11 notebook (USB-A and USB-C sockets available).
Output should be on two Devialet Phantom 108s.
The Phantoms can be controlled via Bluetooth, and alternatively via iOS via Airplay 2, but I would prefer a wired connection. Since every guest at the party probably has a cell phone with activated Bluetooth and WLAN radio in their pants/handbag, that’s a worrying number of wireless clients in a small space. My main focus is to enable music playback that is as robust and uninterrupted as possible and to be able to sleep peacefully until the celebration. I’m terrified of the connection breaking off and the music stopping while everyone is tapping
Therefore I would like to control the Phantoms via Toslink. You can connect the two speakers wirelessly as a stereo pair, so that only one is connected via Toslink, and the other is then attached to the master as a radio slave (not sure which band/frequency is used for this, or whether I have a local one for this). WLAN would have to be established in which the Phantoms are hanging), alternatively both individually via Toslink then each as a mono speaker.
Now, after a long speech and a little context, my 2.5 questions:
- Is the Soundblaster
- Does it make sense to hang a Toslink splitter behind the X4 to address the Phantoms individually via Toslink and take the wireless element out of the equation entirely?
- (does the PureClock make sense between the notebook and the
I hope I was able to convey my plans and questions in a somewhat understandable way, and thank you in advance for any support!
PS: The Phantoms also have an RJ45 jack, if that’s a viable alternative option.
