Querétaro Introduces Braille System for Vaccination Card: A Step towards Inclusion and Accessibility in Healthcare

Writing/Quadratín Querétaro

QUERÉTARO, Qro., July 22, 2023.- The Secretary of Health of the state of Querétaro, María Martina Pérez Rendón, led the Presentation of the Vaccination Card in Braille System, unique in the country, which will be integrated into the National Health Card.

Pérez Rendón emphasized that this initiative reflects the commitment to the inclusion and well-being of the population. In addition, he expressed special appreciation to Andrea Alejandra Pérez Romero, who had the idea to start the project, which will benefit not only people with visual disabilities, but all citizens of the state, because with this initiative barriers will be broken and access to health information will be facilitated, which will allow blind people to make informed decisions.

During the presentation ceremony, it was explained that visual impairment is a condition that totally or partially affects the perception of images, a reality that we face in each of the environments in which we operate as human beings and from which no one is exempt from suffering, however, being aware of diversities brings empathy and quality closer to the health service that we provide to the population.
