Quentin Tarantino’s Scorn for Steven Spielberg’s ‘Indiana Jones’ Film

Steven Spielberg was the mastermind of several classics from ‘Jaws’ to ‘Jurassic Park’, however one of his most famous works has been scorned by Quentin Tarantino

Steven Spielberg is one of the most renowned filmmakers in Hollywood due to his extensive film career, which includes several classics that served as the basis for other productions, including Jaws, ET the Extra-Terrestrial and Jurassic Park, to name just a few. However, one of his works with the largest number of fans has been strongly criticized by Quentin Tarantino.

Spielberg was one of the masterminds behind the Indiana Jones franchise, the one that immortalized Harrison Ford as the fearless professor, who faced off against terrifying villains from Nazis to aliens. Although the saga became one of the most beloved by fans, not everyone thinks the same, as is the case with the director of Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood.

The Oscar winner, also remembered for movies like Pulp Fiction, Inglourious Basterds and Kill Bill, was not afraid to admit that he hated one of the Indiana Jones movies, assuring that it was horrible. On the ReelBlend podcast, he confessed that Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade was the worst of all installments, below Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, the worst rated film by critics and audiences.

I like the Crystal Skull better than Sean Connery’s. I don’t like Sean Connery’s. I don’t like the Sean Connery movie at all… It’s such a boring movie. It’s boring. And he’s not an interesting character

An opinion that has offended hundreds of fans who consider it a masterpiece, or one of those essential childhood movies. Even the director joked and assured that he enjoys it more. Stop! Or my mother shoots, that Sylvester Stallone movie that at the time was a box office flop in the nineties.

But before the hate is unleashed, Tarantino clarified that he does not hate the entire saga and that in fact one of his favorites is Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, which is part of his top Spielberg movies.

My favorite Spielberg movie, with ‘Jaws’ carved out of his own Mount Rushmore, is ‘Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

Do you agree with him? He also assured that this film is transcendental in the industry since the PG-13 classification (not recommended for children under 13) was created from it. “The movie was so fucking great that it created a new rating in the MPAA, something Brian De Palma has never been able to do as much as he has tried!” he joked. Now with Indiana Jones and the Dial of Fate, Harrison Ford hangs the whip and hat that have accompanied him for years and made him a Hollywood icon.
