The cult filmmaker Quentin Tarantino will be recognized by the Rome Film Festival this year with a lifetime achievement award.
The also writer, producer and actor will attend the contest, which will take place from October 14 to 24, and is scheduled to participate in a “close encounter” of questions and answers with the local audience.
“There was a time in my life when I watched any Italian movie. And I spent most of my career making my version of those movies, ”Tarantino said in a statement, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
“So getting a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Rome Film Festival is fantastic!”
The 16th edition of the pageant will also honor director Tim Burton (The Big Fish, Batman) with a lifetime achievement award. The festival called Burton “one of the most original filmmakers in the US film industry, someone who can bring an immediately recognizable visual universe to the big screen.”
“Receiving this honor from the Rome Film Festival is very special for me. Fellini, Mario Bava and Dario Argento have been great inspirations in my life, and receiving the award in Rome, a place that I love, a city where you feel that you are starring in your own movie, is very emotional, “said Burton.
Rome will announce its full program of movies and events on October 6.
