It is clear that Quentin Tarantino likes theatrical releases and does not like streaming platforms like Netflix.
Netflix, Apple Tv+, Disney Plus, HBO Max and the rest are adding more content to their catalogs. From time to time, some of his movies become very popular, but there are many that go unnoticed. Something that Quentin Tarantino does not like at all and he has revealed it in a recent interview with DL.
“Well, I’ve always thought that movies should be made for theatrical release. And eventually they make it to television. I saw many of them that way. I’m probably going to be doing my next movie (The Movie Critic) with Sony because it’s the last player in town that is absolutely, completely, committed to the movie experience. It’s not about feeding your transmission network. They are committed to the experience in rooms. They judge success by the asses in the seats. And they judge success by movies that get into the zeitgeist, not just by making a big expensive movie and then putting it on their streaming platform. Nobody knows it’s there.”
“I mean, and I’m not messing with anyone, but apparently for Netflix, Ryan Reynolds has made $50 million on this movie and $50 million on that movie and $50 million on the next movie for them. I don’t know what those movies are. I have never seen them. And you?”.
What will your new movie be about?
A Quentin Tarantino premiere is always a big event, so we look forward to hearing what he has lined up for The Movie Critic. Since for now, there are not many details. However, we do know that it will be set in Los Angeles in the late 1970s and will have a female lead at the center. But it will follow a guy who was never really famous, and who used to write movie reviews for a porn magazine.
Also, it is expected that at some point he will make Kill Bill 3 and a movie where Django and Zorro get together. But in addition, he could take charge of a series on Bounty Law, which will follow the adventures of Jake Cahill played by the fictional icon of western television from the 1960s, Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio). Bounty Law is a TV show within a movie as depicted in the cinematic masterpiece Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
Without forgetting, that Quentin Tarantino could direct a Star Trek installment, although that is a project that has sounded a lot, but has never been launched.
