In addition to his career as a cult director, Quentin Tarantino is also a gigantic film nerd himself. He rarely holds back from controversial opinions. Now Tarantino’s own podcast with director Roger Avary has entered its second season. In the current episode, the Pulp Fiction maker expressed his love for a revenge thriller with Nicolas Cage that stands out from generic genre representatives à la John Wick.
Tarantino loves Nicolas Cage revenge thrillers because they are so unexpected
Sea Screen Rant Tarantino talked about how much he loves 2021’s Pig with Cage on the latest episode of his Video Archives podcast:
Watching some Nic Cage stuff, the movie he did, Pig, blew me away. This is one of the best of the last five years. This is one of the best films I’ve seen in the last five years. He deserves to be proud…the director did a killer job. He did a really, really great job.

What Tarantino loves most about Pig, in which Cage is a hermit trying to save his adored, kidnapped truffle pig, is the narrative style. After all, there are no violent action scenes in director Michael Sarnoski’s film:
One of the great things about the film, especially after all the Revenge-O-Matics we’ve seen, is that the film is structured like everything Nic Cage has made in the last five years seems…that looks like that, only to then not to go down that path in the most creative way possible.
Where and how can you watch Pig?
You can watch the revenge thriller with Nicolas Cage in a streaming flat rate currently only with Joyn Plus+ look. Otherwise, Pig is available to rent or buy from providers such as Amazon Prime.
