Hundreds of New Yorkers arrived early at Queens Center Mall this Sunday to do last-minute Christmas shopping and take advantage of discounts of up to 50 percent in different stores.
Like every year, stores open and close early the day before Christmas to welcome those who are waiting for the last moment to finish their purchases.
“Well, I still need a couple of things for the family but I already have everything, that’s why I came at this time because I’m not going to stay long, I already did it in advance,†says Sissy Juez, a Queens resident.
“This year it caught me last but every year I am always early with my things but not this year,†adds María Pugo.
Maria Pugo says that this year she will only buy gifts for the little ones in the house due to the high prices.

“I think if the economy is a little bit weaker and if we are looking for a little bit of supply, that is what we are looking for.â€
According to a survey by the National Retail Federation, Americans plan to spend an average of $875 on holiday shopping, $42 more than last year.
Despite inflation, some buyers do not stop spending and assure that it is an investment to thank loved ones.
Antonio Cuevas has his opinion on the matter: “The economy is difficult, one has to measure oneself.â€
“Everything is a little more expensive but you know that it is a time when we kind of forget about that, we always want to buy to pamper the people we love, no, concludes Sissy Judge.“
If you still need to do your last shopping, this shopping center will be open today until 6 pm.
