Queen Sonja: – Surprised: – By no means accidental

This weekend the stage was set for a folk festival at Holmenkollen in Oslo. Among the many sports and party-loving people who were present were also our royals.

The royal family got several Norwegian victories, and at the same time they showed their support for our important sports heroes.

Tradition

True to tradition, the royal family lined up strong men and women in Holmenkollen. Young and old really seem to enjoy themselves both in each other’s company, and with skiing as entertainment, says See and Hear royal house expert Caroline Vagle, about the eventful weekend.

Several pictures have been taken of the royals in Holmenkollen, and among those who probably get a little extra attention is one of Princess Ingrid Alexandra together with her grandfather, King Harald.

– The Crown Prince and Crown Princess have limited how much the children should officially participate in, and perhaps especially in their youth. But just like on May 17, they are always at this event. The princess was actually only two months old the first time she was with, Vagle says.

Very special detail

A bunch of photos from the weekend’s festivities have been posted on the royal house’s official Instagram account, where they naturally get their dose of attention.

Some have paid special attention to a detail related to the queen’s outfit.

Queen Sonja has in fact dressed in a yellow sweater and blue scarf, which can bring to mind the colors of Ukraine.

“Looks like the queen has chosen to wear a yellow sweater with a blue scarf – hardly by chance”, there is one who comments.

See and Hear royal house expert seems to completely agree that this is hardly coincidental.

– Queen Sonja is a style queen of rank. She trained in sewing and design as a young woman, but even though her professional career went in a completely different direction – it is clear to see that she has design in her fingers to this day. She is always stylish, and leaves nothing to chance, says Caroline Vagle.

The royal house expert believes it is a good, thoughtful choice of the queen:

– She often uses clothes to say something, such as dressing in yellow and blue in Holmenkollen. It is by no means coincidental, and the Queen’s clear support for Ukraine and the people there.

Several royals also wore a yellow and blue bow.

Guri Varpe, head of communications at the Palace, states that they do not comment on the royals’ clothes, but also points out the above-mentioned loop.

– These are made by Drammen sanitation association, says Varpe to Dagbladet.

– Difficult situation

On Monday, Swedish King Carl Gustaf also spoke about the war in Ukraine.

– Europe is in an unusually difficult situation, more difficult than in a long time, the king said on Monday according to NTB, before he pulled out the Ukrainian people.

– The humanitarian catastrophe is a fact. People are fleeing their homes and country, families are falling apart, innocent people are dying, he continued.

Carl Gustaf also said that the war affects outside Russia and Ukraine, and that what is happening has serious consequences – also for Sweden.

– Lump in throat

Danish Princess Marie is also worried and sad about the war in Ukraine.

On Sunday, she stated after a service in connection with DanChurchAid that she has a large lump in her stomach and throat, something she has had all day.

Together with Prince Joachim, she usually lives in Paris with their two children together, Prince Henrik and Princess Athena.

– My family and I are very affected by the situation, and therefore it was also very important for me to be here today, to show the importance of the work DanChurchAid does in the world, she said to Danish BT.
