Every year, at the beginning of October, Queen Emeritus Sofia of Spain has accustomed us to having public meetings with her eldest daughter, on the occasion of the social awards of the Fundación MAPFRE. This Thursday, 6 October, Queen Sofia awarded the designer Carolina Herrera in particular during the evening.

Carolina Herrera receives a MAPFRE Foundation Award from Queen Sofia
It was as an employee of the MAPFRE foundation that Infanta Elena, Duchess of Lugo, greeted her mother at the entrance to the Casino de Madrid. On 6 October 2022, the foundation presented its social awards. MAPFRE is a former mutual insurance company that has become an insurance company. Infanta Elena, 58, eldest daughter of Queen Emeritus Sofia, 83, and King Emeritus Juan Carlos, 84, works there as project development manager for the foundation, the majority owner of the insurance company.
The foundation awards awards annually that recognize people, companies and projects who help create a more just and less unequal society through their dedication and work. This Thursday, Queen Emeritus Sophia returned to work after a several-week break in her official schedule. He was also seen at Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral on September 19, alongside King Juan Carlos. It was the first real public reunion for the couple who live apart on two continents.

This year, the José Manuel Martínez Martínez Award was awarded to Carolina Herrera, 83, for her career and support for various charitable causes. Queen Sofia and Carolina Herrera last met last April in New York. Already that day Queen Sofia had rewarded her designer by giving her the Sophia Award for Excellence. The designer Carolina Herrera, of Venezuelan origin, was Marchesa de Torre Casa di lei from her marriage, until the revocation of the title of her husband, former editor of Vanity Fair magazine.
In 2018 Carolina Herrera left the artistic direction of her fashion house founded in 1981 of which she became global ambassador. She still embodies the brand image and now devotes her life to representation, using her notoriety to support many causes. Malnutrition and the fight against cancer are two issues to which you attach great importance. Four prizes are awarded each year by the MAPFRE foundation. This Thursday, in addition to Carolina Herrera, the other three winners were the Integra Stands Out Foundation, Doctors Without Borders (MSF) and the company Bodega Matarromera.
