Queen Silvia of Sweden has returned to the United States, the country where her second daughter, Princess Madeleine, lives. Mother and daughter met in New York to undertake commitments related to the Childhood foundation. Queen Silvia and Princess Madeleine reunited for a good cause in New York
Queen Silvia, 79, headed to New York this weekend. His second daughter, Princess Madeleine, 41, also traveled to the northern United States, making the trip from her home in Miami, Florida. In 1999, Queen Silvia created the Childhood foundation, which fights in particular against violence against children. Since 2021, Princess Madeleine has been honorary vice-president of Childhood but she is also the honorary president of the American branch of the foundation.
This Monday, October 16, 2023, the Queen of Sweden and her daughter were expected at the UN headquarters to participate in a meeting highlighting the work of Childhood. Queen Silvia gave a speech. “Significant steps have been taken at global, regional and national levels to combat violence, exploitation and abuse linked to travel and tourism”said the wife of the Swedish head of state, as reported Swedish Lady. The Queen, however, deplored that progress was not being made at the “required speed”. Princess Madeleine also spoke.

In the evening, Queen Silvia and Princess Madeleine were expected on Park Avenue to attend the annual gala of the American branch of the foundation. The Childhood Gala is one of the foundation’s main fundraising vehicles. The minimum cost of the evening is 1000 dollars. There are different formulas which come with certain advantages and visibility. According to the formulas put online on the site of the foundation, you have to pay $100,000 to reserve a table for 12 people located near the head table of the Queen and the members of the board of directors.

During this evening, the queen wore a shimmering emerald green dress. Princess Madeleine wore a midnight blue dress with a sweetheart neckline with dropped shoulders. Princess Madeleine was accompanied by her husband, Christopher O’Neill.

This evening in Manhattan allowed Queen Silvia to reunite with her daughter in a prestigious context, surrounded by the foundation’s greatest patrons. The cocktail party started at 6 p.m. and the dinner at 7 p.m. An auction was organized to raise funds. During the evening, Grammy nominated singer Natasha Bedingfield delivered an exceptional performance. DJ Joanna Nordahl was in charge of keeping the room going until the end of the night for those who wanted to extend the evening.
