Queen Máxima imagined herself in a completely different world this morning. She is visiting the gaming industry in Amsterdam. Queen Máxima is sitting on the edge of her seat and wearing a light summer outfit that we have seen before. And yes, she even plays games.
Today Queen Máxima learns about the growth of the gaming industry in the Netherlands. The queen is given a tour by the Dutch Games Association at the Guerrill studio in our capital. But the visit consists of more than just playing games. For example, the organization that Máxima visits collaborates with the Rijksmuseum and current social and ecological challenges are reflected in games.

Queen Máxima listens carefully to representatives in the gaming industry.
For example, Máxima talks to the makers of the game Hackshield. A game in which young people learn about digitalization through play. After all, games are a very creative way to discuss a social theme with this young target group.

Queen Máxima reuses (again) an outfit from Natan
Máxima appears during the visit in an outfit from the Belgian fashion house Natan that we have seen before. She wears a wide gold-colored blouse with loose-fitting linen pants. Nice and airy and therefore ideal for this damp weather. It is striking that Máxima is increasingly reusing outfits. For the regional visit to the Gelderse Vallei, she took out her King’s Day outfit from April this year, also a design by Natan. And last week Máxima wore a cheerful orange dress that we recognize from previous working visits. Another design by Natan. A sustainable choice by the Queen, for which Natan’s designs appear to be ideal.

Queen Máxima participates in a concentrated game

You will find it later this afternoon on our social media channels and of course in our broadcast this Saturday, September 9.

The princesses used to play games
There was a lot of gaming going on in Huis ten Bosch when the princesses were still young. In 2021, Princess Alexia hinted that the royal family was not always pleasant when playing Minecraft. “We used to play Minecraft a lot and that always caused a lot of arguments,” the princess said during the modified King’s Day in Eindhoven. The gaming world is therefore not new territory for Queen Máxima. Máxima heard a lot of arguing among her daughters because of gaming , but has become a fan of games again as a result of this working visit, says State Secretary Gunay Uslu (Media and Culture), who is also present during the visit.

‘No more time for gaming’
The three daughters have now moved out and no longer have time for gaming. Princess Amalia is studying in Amsterdam and Princess Alexia has returned from her adventure in Wales and is having a gap year. The youngest member of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima is currently the furthest away from home. Princess Ariane is studying in sunny Italy. It is not likely that Máxima will soon take the game controllers out of the cupboard, because she unfortunately says she does not have time for it, she said during the visit.
