The Queen discussed the latest updates from NASA’s Perseverance mission to Mars and the discovery of a rare meteorite that landed in Gloucestershire, UK last month.
“I’m glad no one was hit,” the Queen joked during even the event that took place on Wednesday, but details of which were only released by Buckingham Palace on Friday. She also talked about meeting Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, the first human in space, in 1961.
Her relaxed appearance is in stark contrast to the great pressure that came on the British royals after Harry and Meghan’s interview with Oprah Winfrey shown on television on Sunday evening. In it, the couple talked about the unsustainable pressure from the British media, the racism within Buckingham Palace and the lack of support for Meghan’s mental problems.
Buckingham Palace said in a brief statement after the interview that the royal family was “sad” at how hard the two experienced their time at the royals. The British Queen is said to be planning to call her grandson Harry to iron out the folds after the explosive interview he and his wife Meghan have given.
