Queen Elizabeth’s husband Prince Philip may call his wife “sausages”

Philip is recognized early on as a master in public relations: a charming man, tough athlete (polo, hunting, riding), honest, frank and direct, daring, dashing and sometimes a bit brisk. His kind of humor and joviality is notorious, his caustic spontaneous joke is legendary. Neither statesmen like the late German Chancellor Helmut Kohl (whom he speaks of as “Reich Chancellor”) are immune from him, nor adolescents like the 13-year-old student Andrew Adams. When the latter tells him about his job as an astronaut, he bluntly advises him: “Before that, you would have to slim down a little.”
