Queen Elizabeth’s funeral ends with two minutes of silence nationwide | Royal family

Queen Elizabeth’s state funeral in London will conclude with a nationwide two-minute silence on Monday. After the service at Westminster Abbey, Elizabeth’s coffin is taken to Windsor Castle. During a private ceremony, her coffin is placed there in a burial crypt next to that of her husband Filippo, who died last year.

The Queen’s coffin will be in Westminster Hall until the morning of the state funeral. The coffin was brought to this place during a procession from Buckingham Palace on Wednesday.

Since then, interested parties can pay their last respects to the queen. Also on the night from Wednesday to Thursday people passed in front of the coffin containing, among other things, the royal banner and the crown.

Grieving Brits have to queue for hours at Westminster Hall. The mile-long line along the River Thames gets longer and longer on Thursday, the first full day the coffin is displayed. It was 3.2 kilometers early Thursday morning. By 1:30 pm local time, the line had risen over 7 kilometers.

British authorities warn that waiting times can be up to 30 hours. Many hundreds of thousands of people are expected to say goodbye. More than a thousand volunteers, stewards and police officers have been called to keep the line in the right direction. Along the way there are about five hundred toilets for those waiting, and there are also food trucks.
