A short ceremony was held at Westminster Hall, led by the Archbishop of Canterbury. From 6pm tonight, the British will be able to pay their last tribute to their late queen here until Monday morning. The first to have the opportunity to do so are parliamentarians from both the House of Lords and the House of Commons.
The chest will be guarded by the soldiers who are part of it all the time Royal House. Perhaps even here, as in Scotland, the queen’s four sons at one point watch over the coffin.
The coffin will be in the state in Westminster Hall until Monday morning. On Monday she will be taken to Westminster Abbey, where the state funeral will be held.
