Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II told members of the royal court that she could not move well during her first public engagement since her son Prince Charles contracted Covid-19.
Crown Prince Charles, 73, was infected last week with the new coronavirus. A source from the palace said that the 95-year-old queen did not show symptoms of infection, but the situation is observed.
On Tuesday, the Queen was filmed during virtual audiences with the new ambassadors to the United Kingdom of Estonia and Spain via video link. On Wednesday, the palace announced that it had received its outgoing and newly appointed defense ministers at Windsor Castle.
“Oh, I’m here,” the queen said, leaning on a cane as the two ministers entered the hall, as heard in a video of the meeting. Asked how she was feeling, the queen replied: “Well, as you can see, I can’t move.” And she points to her feet before shaking hands with the ministers. Buckingham Palace declined to comment.
A source at the palace said the queen felt stiff rather than hurt or unwell.
