Queen Elizabeth is back on her feet for her favorite horse show | Royalty

RoyaltyShe hadn’t been out in the public eye much since she had to spend a night in hospital in October, but last weekend’s horse show at Windsor Castle didn’t want Queen Elizabeth (96) to miss for anything. Since the Royal Windsor Horse Show was founded 79 years ago, the Queen has not missed a single one.

According to the British court, Elizabeth is struggling with ‘mobility problems’, which has forced her to cancel some important events in recent times. For example, last Tuesday she had to fail for the first time at the start of the British parliamentary year.

Standing ovation

The horse show on Sunday night was the first of several major events to mark her 70th anniversary on the British throne. The Queen received a standing ovation from the crowd as she walked independently, using a stick, to her seat in the gallery, flanked by her son Prince Edward, the Duke of Wessex.

The Queen was treated to a spectacular program of horse shows, military parades and performances by artists from all over the world. Helen Mirren, Joan Collins and Tom Cruise were also in attendance. The musical accompaniment was provided by Gregory Porter, Andrew Lloyd Webber and singer Katherine Jenkins.

Challenges

The show focused on highlights from Elizabeth’s platinum anniversary and paid tributes from the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth. Prince Charles also spoke about his mother. He praised the way she always manages to present herself and the way she deals with the various challenges in life.

The queen visibly enjoyed the performances and made a cheerful impression. At the end of the evening, Elizabeth was driven from the party site in a Land Rover. She walked a short distance from her seat to the car and spoke briefly with some of the show employees along the way.
