There is also no doubt that social media plays an important role in the Queen’s death message, and the British royal family will on that occasion change the royal house’s website to a black screen with a short statement confirming the death.

All social media platforms for the British authorities will also face a black banner, and all non-urgent content will not be published, according to the documents The Guardian has gained access to.

All retweets on the website Twitter will also allegedly be banned unless this is approved by the authorities’ communications manager.

National concerns

The documents show that the Queen’s coffin is being transported from Buckingham Palace to the Palace of Westminster via a procession. Here it will remain on a platform that is open to the public 23 hours a day for three days.

The funeral will take place 10 days after the queen’s death and will be considered a “day of national mourning”. Internally, the day will be referred to as “D-day”.

Furthermore, the documents address concerns about staffing and resources on the important day, including the Foreign Office is aware of the large number of tourists who will arrive in the country to mourn the Queen’s death.

The British Home Office is also concerned about potential terror warnings, and the Department of Transport is in danger of an overcrowded capital as a result of the death message.
