Queen Elizabeth – Close ties with Norway:

LONDON (Dagbladet): In the second row in a packed Westminster Abbey, a few meters from the coffin with the late Queen Elizabeth, sat the Norwegian royal couple.

Of the 2,000 guests, King Harald and Queen Sonja were probably among the few who even knew the queen privately.

– King Harald and Queen Sonja clearly looked serious and moved during today’s funeral. They greeted a royal colleague, but also a family member and a good friend, says Caroline Vagle, the expert at the Se og Hør royal house.

Queen Elizabeth made a total of three state visits to Norway during her tenure, more than any other head of state. However, the strong ties between the Norwegian and British royal families are not just about the fact that they are both royals.

Queen Elizabeth and King Harald were also triplets.

– The Royal House itself writes on its website that the two monarchs helped link past and future together. From their grandparents, King George V and Queen Maud, to their great-grandchildren and grandchildren, Prince George and Princess Ingrid Alexandra, says Vagle.

He believes this is some kind of confirmation that all generations in royal homes have met more than we know.

– It will be exciting to see how the new generations continue these strong bonds.

– DISGUSTING: A group of Brits Dagbladet spoke to on the streets of London after Queen Elizabeth’s funeral are not kind to criticize their media.

Annual Christmas gift shopping in London

According to Vagle, today King Harald and Queen Sonja also have a close relationship with the new monarch and his wife Camilla. The royal family themselves have confirmed that they visit each year.

– King Olav used to go to London every year to buy Christmas presents, and it is a tradition that we know Queen Sonja and King Harald have continued. I guess this is an occasion where they visit privately, says Vagle and adds:

– We also know that Charles and Camilla and Sonja and Harald had mutual friends in actress Kjersti Døvigen and her husband Halvor Astrup.

It is named after a Norwegian uncle

He also believes that many people in Norway today are unaware that King Charles is named after King Harald’s grandfather, King Haakon.

King Haakon was called Prince Charles before he became King of Norway, and the name Charles is the British variant of Charles.

– Queen Elizabeth referred to King Haakon as “Uncle Charles”, who is said to be her favorite uncle. That’s why she also named her firstborn after him.

King Haakon was also Charles’s godfather. Vagle says he should have said he was happy that the prince took his name from him.
