Queen Elizabeth cancels event again: “Her own expectations hold her back” | Royalty

royaltyQueen Elizabeth (96) was celebrated more than ever last week. Britain celebrated its 70th anniversary for four days. Unfortunately, she herself was much less present at the festivities than originally planned. In addition, she will again drop out next month for the Commonwealth Games, an important sporting event. Is her health really that bad?

The Commonwealth Games in Birmingham will not be solemnly opened by Queen Elizabeth on July 28. This year she will hand over that task to her son Prince Charles (73). Other members of the royal family will also be in attendance. The organization of the games told the ‘Daily Mail’ that the Queen has to give up because of her increasing vulnerability.

According to royalty expert Robert Lacey, the Queen does this mainly because she wants to avoid embarrassing moments in public. “Her own high expectations for herself are a factor in her decision to stay in the background,” he tells People. For example, she wouldn’t want to trip in public. Not because that would be painful for her, but above all not to be a burden to others.”

Difficult to walk

Queen Elizabeth, now 96, has been struggling with mobility issues lately. She appeared on the balcony with a walking stick last Thursday. And while she did come out there, for the first time, she didn’t take part in the parade. Her subjects feared the worst. “I thought, ‘How many more times will I see Her Majesty like this? It was quite sad. I know her platinum anniversary is a wonderful occasion to celebrate, but it was sad in my eyes,” said Bill Mott, Commander of the Valley Forge Military Academy.

However, if we are to believe Kate Middleton, things are not going so well yet. She said during a reception last week that the queen is doing well. “She’s fine, she’s just very tired from yesterday,” it said last Friday, the day after the parade. The Queen was on her feet all day, and would proudly refuse to use a wheelchair.
