The Queen will not attend the COP26 climate summit in Glasgow which starts this weekend, Buckingham Palace announces, according to Sky News.

A statement reads:
“Following advice to rest, the Queen has undertaken light tasks at Windsor Castle. Her Majesty has regrettably decided that she will no longer travel to Glasgow to attend the evening reception at COP26 on Monday 1 November.
Surprised after 17 years
Furthermore, it appears that the queen will still contribute to the event:
“Her Majesty is disappointed not to be able to attend the reception, but will deliver a greeting via video message.”
According to Sky News, the queen is in good spirits, but emphasizes that she thinks it is stupid that she is not allowed to participate and hopes no one will use her absence as a reason not to show up herself.

Failing health
This is the second time in a short time that the British monarch has had to report a fall due to health reasons.
Last week, she had to cancel a trip to Northern Ireland for health reasons, after her doctors “advised her to rest for a few days”.
Cancels again
What the health causes are is not known.
