Buckingham Palace told PA Media on Monday that the royal couple has cut short their stay at Sandringham House. The two have left for Windsor. With that, the queen and her husband are back at Windsor Castle just before the second lockdown in England.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced on Saturday that England will go into lockdown for four weeks from Thursday due to increased corona infections. In addition, all restaurants, cafes, gyms and non-essential stores must close their doors.
The 94-year-old queen left Buckingham Palace for Windsor Castle in March because she could better shield herself there during the corona crisis. Philip (99) came from Sandringham shortly afterwards. The couple spent the summer on the Scottish estate of Balmoral. Elizabeth returned to Windsor Castle alone last month.
