According to newly published information, the wife of King Charles III will not receive no annuity paid out of UK taxpayers’ money. Queen Camilla will therefore not have access to the money that Prince Philip, the husband of the late Queen Elizabeth II, received until his death. At the same time, he received more than ten million crowns annually.
“Parliament provided Prince Philip with a separate annuity worth £359,000 a year. Queen Camilla will not receive a separate pension and the Queen’s activities will be funded by a grant,” said a report by Britain’s independent public spending watchdog.
This is because the annuity for Prince Philip was enshrined in new legislation from 2011, which states that the Duke of Edinburgh will receive the money until his death. And since he is directly named in the law, it is impossible for this sum to pass to the Queen.
