Queen and Adam Lambert cover opera aria “Nessun Dorma”

Queen and Adam Lambert covered the opera Nessun Dorma at a show in Bologna, Italy on Saturday and Sunday (9th and 10th July).

“A spontaneous gift to Bologna”

The opera aria originally comes from the last act of Giacomo Puccini’s opera “Turandot” (1926). The piece only became famous years later thanks to the late opera singer Luciano Pavarotti, who performed the aria as part of the 1990 soccer World Cup in Italy. After performing the Queen classic “Don’t Stop Me Now”, Queen and Adam Lambert performed a cover version of “Nessun Dorma” in Bologna. Queen guitarist Brian May posted the pictures of the show on Instagram and sent his heartfelt thanks: “A spontaneous gift to Bologna last night. I’m so proud of Adam. I can see our dear departed friend Luciano smiling. Let’s Rock Tonight”.

Finally back on tour

May’s joy about the first tour after the pandemic can hardly be overheard. He continues, “I love seeing people’s faces when we’re in mid-flight and playing our hearts out. Seeing faces and making eye contact, seeing hands waving, hearing shouts of joy is like nothing else in the world. The greatest joy for us is to feel your participation and passion”.

Queen announce new song and online concert film

Band members Roger Taylor and Brian May announced in June that they would release a previously unreleased song featuring the late frontman Freddie Mercury in September. They also announced a new online concert film entitled Rhapsody Over London. The performance was recorded at one of ten sold out shows at the O2 Arena in London as part of their 2022 Rhapsody Tour.

Fans can watch the two-and-a-half-hour, 28-song show on July 24 (4 p.m.) and July 25 (8 p.m.) via an online live stream. The film will be available until July 31st. You can find the link to the live stream here.
