Quebecer Louka St-Jean to make his debut in the USF Pro 2000 championship with Turn 3 Motorsport at Road America

Tuesday, June 13, 2023 by Julie Bouchard

Quebecer Louka St-Jean will join the Turn 3 Motorsport team, for his debut in the USF Pro 2000 championship (formerly Star Mazda series then Indy Pro 2000) from rounds 8 and 9 which will take place this weekend on the Road America circuit at Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.

The only Quebecer to evolve this season in USF Pro 2000 and rookie in the series, St-Jean had started his season in the USF2000 series under the colors of Jay Howard Racing Development, finishing 14th in the 1st race before giving up (mechanical failure) during the second at the Grand Prix of St-Petersburg (Florida) in March. At Sebring, he finished the first event 11th before retiring in the second, following an accident which kept him out of competition in May, thus missing the triple program on the Indianapolis road circuit. and the race on the oval of Clermont (Indiana) the following week.

Now back and more determined than ever, St-Jean wants to focus on learning the USF Pro 2000 series, which is a slightly higher level than USF2000, in the second half of the year, with a view to a full season in 2024. “I can’t wait to make my USF Pro 2000 debut next weekend,” said the 17-year-old. “I had a great test with Turn 3 Motorsport at Road America a few weeks ago, and I’m up for the challenge of stepping up to the next level of the USF Pro Championships. My goal is to continue to gain experience this year and learn as much as possible for the 2024 season. Many thanks to Turn 3 as well as my family, friends and partners for their continued support. I’m excited and ready to go! added Louka St-Jean.

Prior to joining the USF Pro Championships presented by Cooper Tires, St-Jean competed for two seasons in the US F4 Championship where he earned a pole position, podium and fastest lap in his rookie season. After completing a successful one-day test in the Tatuus IP-22 with Turn 3 Motorsport at Road America recently, the young Quebecer is looking forward to getting back behind the wheel and racing this weekend.

“I’m very happy to have Louka St-Jean join our team,” said team owner Peter Dempsey. “I think he’s a very talented young man with huge potential. Louka has already had a great day of testing with us in the USF Pro 2000 car, so we aim to leverage that experience and knowledge for him to have a solid debut in the series. We will use the remainder of the 2023 season as a learning experience in preparation for a full racing season in 2024,” concluded Dempsey.

St-Jean will drive the Tatuus IP-22 No.3 single-seater in Planiform and Proservin Construction colours. Other partners include Cosme Inc., Acier Marquis, JIT Laser, Alliance Control and TLA Architecture. Rounds 8 and 9 of the 2000 USF Pro Championship will be held on the famous Road America 4.014-mile, 14-turn road course. The series, which evolves most of the time in support of IndyCar, will then visit the circuits of Mid-Ohio (July 1 and 2) and Toronto, for the only Canadian event on its calendar, from July 14 to 16.
