As of Friday evening, Quebecers are called upon not to leave their residence for non-essential reasons, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. The police will be on the lookout and may ask you to justify your trip during curfew hours. Those found at fault are liable to fines of $ 1,000 to $ 6,000.

Another blow for restaurant owners, who will have to close their dining rooms on Friday. They are thus deprived of one of the most profitable celebrations for them. Small consolation: delivery and take out orders are still possible.
BACK TO SCHOOL POSTPONED

–
The return to face-to-face class in schools, CEGEPs and universities has been postponed until January 17. The courses may however start again on the date scheduled remotely. Distance training can be implemented before the reopening of schools. The return date for the post-secondary environment will be determined later.
SHOPS CLOSED ON SUNDAYS

–
It feels like the height of the first wave. The Legault government considers it necessary, once again, to close all businesses on Sundays, including grocery stores, with the exception of gas stations, convenience stores, pharmacies and take-out counters from restaurants. For the first time in the pandemic, Quebec has also decided to close places of worship.
CELEBRATE WITH A BUBBLE
–
–
The New Year’s Day celebrations will be quiet this year. Until further notice, indoor gatherings are limited to occupants of the same household. There are a few exceptions. A single person and their children can join another family bubble. Those who provide essential assistance to others will also be allowed to travel.
SUSPENDED INDOOR SPORT
–
–
It will be necessary to fall back on outdoor activities to digest the New Year’s meal. Indoor sports are also suspended, unless they are practiced solo, in pairs, or by the occupants of the same residence. The ski center chalets will remain open only to warm up. It will also be forbidden to consume a meal in the snowmobile relays.
