Fabio Quartararo thinks that Yamaha has to improve a lot so that it can continue to fight at the front. Motor has enough speed but can not be invited to fight.
Fabio Quartararo had to take a bitter pill after only managing to finish in 8th place at the Portugal MotoGP. Likewise, in the Sprint Race which was held for the first time in the MotoGP premier class race, Quartararo was only able to finish 10th. In fact, Yamaha is said to have made several changes to the M1 engine for this season. But it’s not enough to be able to fight with other manufacturers.
“We have to find a way to get close to them at the end of the straight track and start the overtaking maneuver. Because at that moment they move away, especially on the straight track and we have to try at points that are difficult to overtake,” Quartararo was quoted as saying Speedweek.
So far Quartararo has found several problems related to the performance of the M1 at the Portuguese MotoGP. Plus, he also didn’t look too bright in the qualifying session which made him have to start the race at the Portimao Circuit from 11th place.
Then when at the Sprint Race he said he was having problems with launch control so the motorbike couldn’t run.
“Our speed during the race was good, but because of the bad starting position and the delay, it was difficult to penetrate the front row. We have to improve in qualifying because it is very important to be able to start at the front, especially for the current condition of our motorbike,” added Quartararo .
“We have the potential to be fast. But the problem now is when we have to fight with other riders, we have to fix that. I hope we can find a solution and have to stay calm because the season is still long,” explained Quartararo.
Yamaha is now immediately preparing for the Argentina MotoGP event this weekend. Fabio Quartararo is also quite optimistic about the second race at the Autodromo do Termas de Rio Hondo. Quartararo himself has only raced twice at the Termas circuit in the premier class.
In the two races he finished in 8th place. He is now determined to be able to pocket the points and ‘climb’ position in the standings. ‘El Diablo’ is currently occupying the 10th position in the drivers standings for the 2023 season.
