The quarantine of 22 teachers of Riga English Gymnasium does not endanger the provision of the educational process in this school, confirmed the Riga City Council Education, Culture and Sports Department.
Teachers who have a home quarantine continue to work remotely in 7th-12th grade groups if there is no incapacity sheet.
In addition, the school has the opportunity to provide full-time training by replacing quarantined 1st-6th grade teachers.
Quarantined teachers are supported by the institution, providing the necessary technical solution for the work.
Latvian Television program “Panorama” previously reported that for 22 teachers and their families, the autumn break at Riga English Gymnasium ended with quarantine, because after a face-to-face meeting during the break, one of its visitors passed the Covid-19 test, which was positive.
The director of the gymnasium Maija Kokare admits that this school has a “bitter lesson” and such meetings are no longer organized.
LETA has already reported that currently 24 persons in Riga educational institutions have quarantined due to Covid-19 for a person, class, group of people or staff, LETA informed the Riga City Council Education, Culture and Sports Department
The department has information that, since the beginning of the school year, 114 students and 90 staff members, including 69 teachers and 21 technicians, have had a positive test for Covid-19.
