Qualified for the 2023 U20 Asian Cup, Indonesia is the most special ASEAN representative

KOMPAS.com – Indonesia is the only ASEAN representative to enter the final AFC U20 2023 as group winners.

Indonesia U20 national team confirmed to automatically qualify for the 2023 U20 Asian Cup final to be held in Uzbekistan next year.

This certainty was achieved after Garuda Nusantara’s team won Group F. 2023 Asia Cup U20 qualification.

In the final classification of Group F, Indonesia U20 national team picked up a perfect point, nine, from three games.

The Indonesian U20 national team has a three-point advantage over Vietnam, which is in second place.

Group winner status was achieved by the Indonesian U20 national team after taking on the last group stage match against Vietnam.

Indonesia beat Vietnam 3-2 in a match held at Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium, Surabaya on Sunday (9/18/2022) WIB night.

The three goals of the Indonesian U20 national team that got stuck in the Vietnam goal were scored by Marselino Ferdinand (60 ‘), Muhammad Ferrari (82’) and Rabbani Tasnim (85 ‘).

Meanwhile, the Vietnam double was achieved by a Ferrari car (66 ‘) and an action by Dinh Xuan Tien in the 79th minute.

This success made Indonesia the only ASEAN representative to qualify for the U20 Asian Cup finals as group winners.

Another ASEAN representative, as well as Indonesia’s competitor in qualifiers, Vietnam, qualified for the finals via the path for best second place.

The young squad of the Golden Star Warriors is included in the list of top five runners-up alongside Kyrgyzstan (Group J), Syria (Group D), China (Group A) and Thailand (Group G).

However, of the five teams mentioned above, only Thailand is still not safe. Thailand’s position is still vulnerable and is in danger of not qualifying for the Asian Cup finals.

This is because Thailand has yet to wait for the results of the new Group H match that will be played from 14 to 18 October.

As Indonesia and Vietnam qualify and Thailand still has opportunities, it’s a different story with Malaysia.

Malaysia certainly did not go to Uzbekistan because they were eliminated in the qualifying round.
