7:00 – The Grand Prix circus has had a weekend off to refuel after the busy and hectic first phase of the season. This weekend, the eleventh race of the season will take place at the Nürburgring: the first Grand Prix of the Eifel in Formula 1 history. In this article you will find all the information about the start time, where you can check the qualification for the race and more.
The shortened 2020 Formula 1 season has reached the decisive phase. Ten Grands Prix have already been held, which means that – under normal circumstances – there are only seven races left. With the victory in Sochi, Valtteri Bottas has cut some of his gap with World Cup leader Lewis Hamilton. Can the Finn also catch up in Germany and make the battle for the title even more exciting? We will see it on Sunday afternoon, although the foundation can already be laid on Saturday afternoon during qualifying.
What time does qualifying for the Eifel Grand Prix start?
Date: Saturday October 10, 2020
Start Dutch time: 3 p.m.
Qualifying for the F1 Grand Prix of the Eifel is scheduled for Saturday, October 10, 2020. The session will start as usual in Europe at 3.00 pm Dutch time. This time practice sets the running order for the first Formula 1 race at the Nürburgring since 2013. The F1 qualifying consists of three parts called Q1, Q2 and Q3. In the first segment, all twenty drivers come into action to record their fastest time. After eighteen minutes, the time stops and the five slowest riders are eliminated. Their times determine – as long as no grid penalties are handed out – the starting order for the positions sixteen through twenty. After a short pause, Q2 begins: a fifteen minute segment. Again the five slowest drivers are eliminated. They determine the order for the positions eleven through fifteen. After a few minutes, the decisive Q3 part in which the starting order of the top 10 is determined. This segment lasts twelve minutes.
The last Formula 1 race at the Nürburgring took place in 2013. Pole position went to Lewis Hamilton in his first season for Mercedes that year. Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber claimed second and third position in their Red Bulls. Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean completed the top-5 in the Lotussen.

The broadcast of qualifying for the German Formula 1 round at the Nürburgring starts at 2.45 p.m. Customers of Telfort, KPN and XS4ALL will find the channel on channel 47. With a Ziggo subscription you can watch it on channel 58. T-Mobile Home subscribers will find the channel on channel 397, with Tele2 you can watch it on channel 223.
The alternative is Ziggo. The provider will broadcast all qualifications and races live on channel 14. The live broadcast is preceded by an extensive preview. The broadcast of the qualification for the Grand Prix of the Eifel starts on Ziggo at 2.15 pm. Presenter Rob Kamphues and analyst Robert Doornbos discuss the most important events in the world of Formula 1. The live report is provided by commentator Olav Mol and pit reporter Jack Plooij. With the extra payment module Ziggo Sport Totaal you get access to six additional sports channels, including the Racing channel. Here you can also watch the free practice sessions and various other international top championships live. A subscription to Ziggo Sport Totaal costs 14.95 euros per month. The package is also available to customers of other TV providers.
Where can I find a stream of F1 qualifying?
Official Formula 1 streams are available on two channels: F1TV Pro and Ziggo Sport Go. The former option is the official Formula 1 streaming service. A subscription gives you access to live F1 broadcasts of all practices, qualifications and races, but you also get access to extra features such as live timing, live driver tracker and onboard images of all drivers. You can also decide which commentator you want to listen to. A subscription to F1TV Pro costs 64.99 euros per year.
The second way to watch Formula 1 on your mobile, tablet or PC is via Ziggo’s streaming service: Ziggo Sport Go. Here too, all free practices, qualifications and races are broadcast live. The action can be followed via the special Racing channel, where various other top championships such as DTM and IndyCar are also broadcast live. A subscription to Ziggo Sport Go costs 9.95 euros per month. This streaming service is available to everyone, even if you are a customer of another television provider.
Formula 1 stream Grand Prix of the Eifel on YouTube
Formula 1 is experimenting with live coverage via YouTube during the Eifel Grand Prix. For this race, Dutch fans can watch all training, qualifying and the race live via the official F1 YouTube channel. Due to the corona virus, far fewer fans can be present at the race. As a compensation, the entire weekend will be broadcast live via the digital platform. Fans in the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Norway, Sweden and Denmark watch all the action for free. It’s not just about the sessions themselves, but there will also be a preview, summaries and analysis of the race.
When can I watch the highlights?
After qualifying, a video with the highlights will be published on the official Formula 1 YouTube channel. This video lasts between five and ten minutes and consists of the most important moments of the session: highs and lows, crashes, surprises and the fastest laps. The full result is also shown. Later in the day, videos of the pole sitter’s onboard lap and the reactions of the main drivers will follow.
