Qualcomm released a new teaser for their latest chipset product. But this is not a SoC for smartphones but a SoC for wearables.
In the twitter teaser post, Qualcomm only captioned “The clock is ticking on something big.” Of course, it is hoped that the new SoC for wearables will bring significant improvements from the previous generation.

Qualcomm itself recently released the Snapdragon Wear 4100+ for wearables SoC, where the SoC is built with a 12nm process, and includes a co-processor that helps handle background tasks, such as sensor input and sound. It provides better power efficiency performance than its predecessor, Snapdragon Wear 3100.

The latest Snapdragon Wear 4100+ is built on a 12nm process and includes a new co-processor to help handle more background tasks like sensor input and sound. This SoC brings performance and battery improvements over the Snapdragon Wear 3100 Platform.
It is hoped that this new Wearable-only SoC from Qualcomm will carry a smaller fabrication process, to produce even better power efficiency and performance.
Moreover, Samsung currently also has the Exynos W920, a special wearable SoC that comes with 5nm fabrication. So for Qualcomm’s new SoC, it should at least have more advantages than its rivals.
There is no information when this product will be released.
