Qualcomm Quick Charce 5 Can Charge the Battery Up to 50% in 5 Minutes

When presenting his fast charging capability, Qualcomm tested it on a cellphone carrying 4,500 mAh battery.

Technically, Quick Charge 5 charges the cellphone on two cells called 2S and 2SnP simultaneously which allows it to pump 50W of power to each cell simultaneously. That is, this feature supports 100W fast charging.

Regarding the reason for pumping a battery which is divided into two cells, this is done to reduce the effects of heat caused during the battery charging process. Compared to Quick Charge 4, this technology produces temperatures 10 ° C cooler.

In addition, Quick Charge 5 will also support USB-PD, so that it can charge larger electronics at full speed.

Qualcomm said, the Quick Charge 5 feature will be embedded in chipsets with SMB1396 and SMB1398 codes which are scheduled to launch in Q3 2020.

Reportedly, this chipset has been ordered by a number of mobile vendors, such as Oppo and Xiaomi. Because the two companies have announced that they are developing mobile phones with 100W fast charging support.
