Qualcomm announces the Snapdragon 865+, which will integrate the Galaxy Note 20 (except here)

Despite some rumors that predicted the opposite, the Snapdragon 865+ is a reality. Qualcomm has just lifted the veil on its new high-end SoC, which will be used on the Asus ROG Phone 3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 20.

At least, for the latter, with regard to the international version of the smartphone. As everyone knows, Samsung has the habit of delivering its new devices to Europe with an Exynos chip – often less efficient and more energy efficient.

The first mobile CPU to exceed 3 GHz

Engraved in 7nm, the Snapdragon 865+ differs from its predecessor by a higher clock frequency on its faster heart. 3.1 GHz, to be exact – against 2.84 GHz on the current Snapdragon 865. A rate up 10%, which concerns only the main core of the platform, the Kryo 585.

The Adreno 650 GPU has also received a little boost, and would be able to more easily reach the 144 Hz supported by the SoC in compatible games.

Thanks to the new FastConnect 6900 chip, the Snapdragon 865+ is also able to support Wi-Fi 6E, which operates on the 6 GHz band and can provide speeds of up to 3.2 Gb / s for latency less than 3 ms. Bluetooth 5.2 is also there, as are apt X Adaptive codecs for 96 kHz audio.

The SoC stacks up with the external modem X55, which supports 5G sub-6 and millimeter.

In which smartphones will we find the Snapdragon 865+?

For the time being, we already know that not three smartphones will integrate the new Qualcomm platform. The Asus ROG Phone 3, which will be officially revealed on July 22, the Lenovo Legion – another gaming smartphone whose veil will also fall on July 22 -, and finally the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra. At least, in their Chinese and American versions, as we said above.

Indeed, in the rest of the world, Samsung will probably make the same choice as usual. Namely to integrate a SoC Exynos of its own into its new spearhead. As for the Galaxy Note 20, it should be the Exynos 992.

Moreover, we can expect that the Snapdragon 865+ will have the preference for a number of end-of-year smartphones like the OnePlus 8T Pro.
