QuakeCon has been canceled due to corona pandemic – Gaming – News

Bethesda Softworks and id Software canceled the QuakeCon event, which was supposed to take place in the US city of Dallas in August. They cite the current corona pandemic as a reason.

Bethesda Softworks and id Software indicate the ‘logistical challenges and uncertainties’ in the light of the corona pandemic. They say that the health and safety of their employees, and of the volunteers, vendors, sponsors and players, will always be the top priority and that in these times it would feel strange to talk about a meeting, while a meeting is the last thing we have to do now ‘.

The companies call the cancellation a difficult decision, partly because this would be the 25th edition of QuakeCon. Bethesda Softworks and id Software say that while they don’t know what the August pandemic is, it would be impossible to complete all the work and planning and make the event a success.

QuakeCon is an annual event co-hosted by ZeniMax Media, the parent company of publisher Bethesda Software. Normally at the event the games of id Software and other studios are promoted under ZeniMax.
