The Bietigheim Steelers celebrated an important victory, three points and four premieres on Friday evening. They also benefit from the defeat of the Schwenninger Wild Wings.
This puck should have a place of honor on René Schoofs’ shelf. After more than 1,000 competitive games for the Bietigheim Steelers – most of them in the second division – the 36-year-old scored his first DEL goal in a 4-0 win against the Augsburg Panthers. “At that moment I was totally flabbergasted and was really happy,” he said at Magentasport.
With his goal, Schoofs benefited from the assists from Robert Kneisler and Guillaume Naud – for the 20-year-old junior player and the 29-year-old son of head coach Danny Naud it was also the first DEL points. “I won’t forget the guys I experienced that with. Maybe I’ll have another one afterwards – but it’ll go on again on Sunday.”

Steelers back in the race
But until the duel against the Krefeld Penguins, the Steelers can celebrate a little. Bietigheim is still bottom of the DEL table with 25 points or one point per game.
